Chances are you drive a gas-powered car and it uses an internal combustion engine that injects fuel from its storage/gas tank into a specialized chamber. This chamber then crushes the fuel by creating tiny explosions that power the pistons which causes your car to move. If the gas/fuel is blocked from getting to your engine, your car won’t run. Most cars fuel systems are fairly simple, they contain filler hoses, the gas tank, fuel filter, fuel pumps, and fuel injections systems along with the fuel lines. In most cases, the filler hoses and the gas tanks do not require any service or replacements. Extreme heat or cold, rust, or abuse could lead to problems with those systems. The remaining systems, may be prone to problems over time.
Harley's ASE certified mechanics serving the Denver area, are very familiar with fuel systems and the unique challenges the environmental conditions in the Denver area cause to them. One of the simplest repairs to a fuel system is a fuel filter replacement, the filter removes contaminants from the fuel/gas supply to ensure the engine is not subjected to harsh debris or unwanted and unneeded moisture. Filters do tend to become clogged over time, leading to restricting the flow of the gas / fuel to the engine. This would then cause the vehicle to idle poorly and possibly die or stall out. Some other indications of a dirty or faulty fuel filter could be the vehicle won't start or stutters and or accelerates slowly.
Fuel injection systems work by spraying gas/fuel into the combustion chamber. Overtime, the injection system may need to be cleaned. Individual injectors may also begin to leak. In this event it would cause an excessive waste of gas and could cause major damage to the engine.
